1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Two Door Hardtop After we were married about four years, I bought a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Four-Door Hardtop from an employee. It was this same color, had an automatic trans, power steering but no power brakes. I added a Hydro-vac later on to get power brakes. This car is only a two door Hard Top. This car also has a Super Thunderbird engine with three two-barrel carburetors. It came from the factory with a four-barrel carb on it and the kit for the three two barrel carbs was in the trunk for the Dealer to install. This car was completely refurbished by a man in the Greencastle, Pa. area. The work was done in his split level attached garage. This included the painting of the car. Some of the good memories that we have from our 1957 Fairlane came from the experience of trailer camping. We started camping by pulling a tent camper with our "57" and the second year, I built a Hi-Lo type trailer that we used for four years. Using the "57" Fairlane 500, we traveled to Canada, North Carolina, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland and through out Pennsylvania with our 1957 Ford and the home made camping trailer in tow. |
