1929 Divco

This truck was in the Merritt family from 1939 to 2014. I bought the truck in July 2014 from my friend Ted Merritt. Ted's Father bought this truck used and drove it around on the family farm for odd jobs for about ten years. Then it was put in a shed where it was unused for many years.

When the two Merritt boys (Douglas and Ted) were teenagers they started to play around with the truck. They eventually got it started and drove it around the farm and around their small town. In the early 1970s the brothers decided to completely restore the truck to its original condition. The restoration was completed sometime in 1979.

This truck has been shown all over the East Coast and has been featured in many magazine articles. It has won many awards and was the AACA National Senior Truck Award Winner in 1982.

This truck is the only known 1929 Divco and is the 4th oldest Divco known to be in existence. The oldest is my 1926 Divco Model "A". There are two 1928 Model Divcos still in existence. One of those 1928 models might be restored sometime in the future.

The Merritt brothers kept this truck in an immaculate condition and have treated the truck like one of the family. I have told people that I think they used a "Q-Tip" and a toothbrush to clean this truck.
